xlsx.dev is an independent project on the structure of financial models. It has two parts so far: a working paper, forthcoming, on what a financial model is made of, and a browser-based tool, in development, that will build models and write them to ordinary workbook files on your own computer.

The project’s one other site is xlsx.wiki, the home of a reference wiki that is in development. Links to the project should point to xlsx.dev.

Workbooks from the tool will be in the Office Open XML (.xlsx) format and are intended to open in Microsoft Excel and in other spreadsheet programs that read it. Microsoft Excel is a trademark of Microsoft Corporation; xlsx.dev is not affiliated with or endorsed by Microsoft.
